3 Invitations to Create
Winter “despite all outward appearances there is a potent magic brewing underground, nature is just resting and preparing for the new cycle - and the same can be said for us too.”
I don’t know who penned those words but they resonate with me so deeply; “potent magic brewing underground”, doesn’t that sound hopeful, playful, gentle and something I need in the world right now.
Often January is toted as the new beginning month. New resolutions: get to the gym, eat more greens, start that hobby, let go of guilt, (insert whatever resolution you want here). But January is not the time to make resolutions. It is not the time to dispense drastic shifts. It is the time for letting “potent magic brew underground.”
Reflection.
Slowness.
Gentle shedding of what isn’t supporting you anymore. Sure, make the vision board on Pinterest or get some magazines and cut out the pictures. Let those seeds lay in rest mode. Spring is coming.
Now that we’ve stepped past the rush of the holidays and maybe finally figured out what day it is (ha ha!), I want to invite you into something slower and more nourishing. Something where you can let the magic brew.
This winter, I’m offering three adult art-making experiences designed to help you reconnect with your creativity through play, presence, and connection. Each gathering is welcoming, gentle yet playful, and rooted in the belief that creativity lives in all of us.
Wildcrafted Mark: Winter Ritual
Saturday, January 17 | 7–8 pm
Good Pickin’ Farmhouse - 5 Gould Road Westford, MA, 01886
$35 per person, all supplies included.
We’ll gather in a cozy farmhouse and begin by choosing from a table of beautiful, natural art materials. You’ll be encouraged to create from your deep creative well, the one that exists beneath productivity and perfection, and is accessible to all of us.
This is not about skill or outcome. It’s about slowing down, making marks, and leaning into the quiet language of winter. I’ll be there as your guide, gently prompting you to play, reflect, and embrace the season together.
The Art Remix: 80s & 90s
Saturday, February 7 | 7–8 pm
Aplomb Gallery 262 Central Ave, Dover, NH
$10 - 35 per person, all supplies included. Cost is a sliding scale.
Revisit the 80s & 90s in a music-led painting night where we let go of control and let our inner child lead the way. When the music pauses, everyone rotates to a new canvas, adding marks to someone else’s beginning. Imagine an artistic version of musical chairs, except no one ever loses their seat.
✨ It’s playful.
✨ It’s unpredictable.
✨ It’s a practice in surrender.
✨ It’s a time of connection.
Come paint, swap canvases, and see what unfolds. You’ll leave with a renewed sense of artistic freedom, and a collaborative painting to bring home.
Wildcrafted Marks
Thursday, March 26 | 6–8 pm
Black Swan Inn, 354 West Main Street, Tilton, NH
$50 per person, all supplies & light refreshments included.
March lives in the in-between. Not quite winter, not yet spring. In this art ritual, we will gather together and work with seasonally inspired materials to explore intuitive mark making and quiet reflection. Using simple tools, earthy textures, and guided prompts, participants will create freely, responding to the materials and the moment rather than working toward a finished painting.
This experience is slow and spacious. We will layer marks, pause, notice, and reflect, allowing the process itself to be the focus. There is no expectation to make something “good” or complete. This is about creating as a way of listening, releasing, and gently noticing what is shifting as the season changes.
No prior art experience is needed. This offering is for anyone longing to make with their hands, slow down, and spend time in a shared, intentional creative space.
Hoping to see you at one of the events this winter. I am already looking for spring locations for more adult art making experiences.
🔔 Let’s keep making things together, I’ll connect with you again soon!
